RRT Assists at Naomi House
Following the successful band and BBQ for Naomi House & Jacksplace hospice on 1st August, RRT were back there again to help at their annual open day on September 12th. This year was an extra-special event which marked the unveiling of the newly-refurbished Naomi House wing after a 12-month refit. This really was a special day for the public, children, their parents and staff to get together, see the new facilities, have fun, and most importantly, raise money!
A total of 35 members of the Rapid Relief Team assisted in many areas throughout the day. Outside in the gardens, the RRT catering team did an excellent job running BBQs and serving food and drinks to several hundred visitors. One visitor commented, “Wow! The queue was so quick, we have never been served so efficiently!” Her comments were echoed by another visitor, who remarked, “It is lovely to be served so efficiently, and we have never been served fast food with a smile before! Amazing!”
Over on the lawn, 2 RRT bands professionally entertained the crowds throughout the day, and were very well received. This was born out by one gentleman who said, “Amazing Bands, you’ve made our day.”
Positioned around the site were 12 members of the RRT marshalling team, guiding the visitors on their tour of the amazing Naomi House & Jacksplace building and grounds. The team were thoroughly enjoyed interacting with members of the public throughout the day, and their efforts were rewarded when one visitor remarked, “RRT is like a well-oiled cog, I will be going home to look you guys up.”
Meanwhile, other members of the RRT were assisting in the off-site carpark. At the end of the day, after a stunning 1052 visitors, the RRT set to and helped clear up after the event.
It was a fantastic day, and a real privilege for RRT to be involved with a charity that does so much for those in need. It was also a humbling and rewarding experience to interact with the parents and families who rely on the service the Naomi House & Jacksplace provide. As one visitor commented, “You just turned up, sorted the food, brought the music and just made everyone smile!”
