Bristol PBCC Senior Boys Band Perform At Nursing Home Event
Saturday 19th July 2014 saw the Bristol PBCC band perform a number of songs for the elderly at Woodlands Manor Care Home.
Woodlands Manor is a family owned care home that was opened in 1994. Nursing Care is provided for 40 physically frail people in personal rooms all furnished to a high standard, many of which have en-suite facilities and has excellent size lounge and dining room areas. It was in the main dining area at the front of the building that the Bristol PBCC band performed on this occasion.
When the home was approached regarding a possible performance, they were very excited as they were in the process of planning an event, the special occasion of an elderly lady named Alice who was celebrating her 102nd birthday.
The band consisted of 5 young members of the Bristol PBCC aged between 14 and 16. The many, many hours of practise over the preceding weeks was about to pay off. They played a number of golden oldies such as ‘Rocking All Over The World’ along with gospel songs such as ‘Leaning On The Everlasting Arms’ and a nice country ballad which appealed to all those listening.
During the performance members of staff were singing along with the songs and the elderly residents were joining in with waving hands and jigging feet. The main feature of the day was the celebration of the 102nd birthday of Alice. Alice, a very spritely soul, was extremely pleased and very thankful for the music, the crowning touch being when the boys put their instruments down and just sang Happy Birthday with everybody joining in.
Many of Alice’s relatives who were present thoroughly enjoyed the performance and expressed their appreciation and thanks.
As they were packing up the boys found time to stop and talk to some of the residents. It was obvious from the comments received that they were all very thankful. “We’d love to have them back again” the staff commented.

dweeb…
I just wanted to say thanks! I’m teenage PBCC member and I’ve handed that very tract out on the streets, but never actually bothered to read it until now. It’s truly awakening and inexpressibly priceless. Recommended to everybody-well worth your while!
I’d like to say thanks aswell. That is awesome!!!
I am also a teenager and have had the very same experience!
i just found these tracts on this website and since then i have been reading them all the time – very interesting
i just thought that there were so many, probably young, people reading these articles and blogs who need to find the Saviour and not ‘go the wrong way’ – and i found that this tract just fitted the bill
glad to know it was appreciated! 🙂
@dweeb
Thanks very much for your comment and link 🙂 Teenage years are immensely tough, i agree(!), but it’s a time when everyone needs to have established a firm foundation in their Lord & Saviour. The other Gospel tract ‘Have You Had a Transaction With Christ’ comes to mind…
“But to find what it is to have this transaction with Jesus. It’s a very real matter, a very real matter. I’d love to challenge every soul here, have you had it? Have you had it? Old and young, have you had it?”
Awesome. That tract is truly amazing.
Thanks very much for posting here…
Are you guys gonna put a vid on PBCC when u perform in march??? pls do 🙂
Fantastic job young ones, keep up your good work, and keep spreading your youthfulness energy and keep on entertaining those older ones.
Well job done boys…quite an awesome experience to know that you cheered others while having fun at the same time. Keep up your good work and you will definitely be blessed.
Well done Denver! Must be hard drumming & singing at the same time. Maybe you guys should come & play in Aussie 🙂
I always love seeing the enthusiasm for music and the smiles of the older people when there are young people interacting with them like this, you can sense they are enjoying it. Keep it up PBCC it would be awful being in a rest home and not many always able to take an interest in you.. keep going and doing this sort of thing it is lovely to see and hear.
who is the good mover??:):)
